1. Can you
fill my US prescription?
Yes we can, once our Canadian licensed physician reviews
and approves of your prescription under his/her Canadian
medical license. All prescriptions are dispensed by one
of our fully licensed Canadian partner pharmacies.
2. What do I
need to have to place a prescription order?
All you need is a valid prescription written by a
qualified physician licensed where you obtained the
prescription.
3. How do I
place a prescription drug order?
Ordering is easy. All you need is a valid prescription
from your US physician. Once you have this, simply
complete our application order form and fax it to us,
along with your original prescription. Upon receipt,
your order will be processed and shipped immediately.
Order forms and prescriptions can also be mailed to us.
4. Can you ship
to the US?
Yes. We service all 50 states.
5. Is it
safe to order prescriptions through your company?
Absolutely. It is as safe as having your prescriptions
filled at your local pharmacy. The only difference is in
the price - prescriptions through our Canadian
prescription service are much cheaper. Your prescription
is reviewed by a licensed Canadian physician, and once
approved, is forwarded to our licensed Canadian pharmacy
so that it may be filled.
6. How large a
supply of my medication can I buy?
You may only order as much as your U.S. physician
prescribes for you. Also, all prescription shipments are
limited to a maximum 90-day supply per medication. Thus,
if your prescription is for a one-year supply, we will
ship you a 90-day supply once every three months. Note:
It is permissible to issue 100 tab/capsule quantities
under this restriction.
7. Should I
tell my doctor that I'm having my prescriptions filled
in Canada?
You don't have to, but we recommend that you do. In
fact, you can have your doctor call us if there are any
questions.
8.
What are ALL the costs associated with placing an
order?
For each order placed, your total charges include the
cost of the medications plus shipping and handling fees
for each package sent.
9.
How do Canadian drugs compare to American drugs in
terms of safety and effectiveness?
The Canadian government has very strict requirements for
the manufacturing of medication in Canada. These
requirements are very similar to the requirements in the
US. In fact, some of the drugs sold in Canada are
actually manufactured in the US and repackaged for sale
in Canada. Generic medications are all manufactured in
Canada under Canada's stringent requirements.
10. Once I place my prescription
order, how long does it take for me to receive my
medications?
You should expect to receive your medications within
8-12 business days from the date your order is received.
To avoid delays, please fax all order forms and original
prescriptions to us, and use a credit card as your
method of payment.
11. Are all the drugs available in
the United States available in Canada?
No. Not all drugs available in the US are available in
Canada.
12. What's the
difference between generic drugs and brand name drugs?
When a drug company first invents a drug (i.e. Prozac)
that company is the only one allowed to make that drug
for a certain number of years (approximately 10 years in
the US and 5-7 years in Canada). After this time period,
other companies are allowed to make the same drug. These
drugs are called generics. The original drug (i.e.
Prozac) is called a brand name drug. Brand name drugs
and their generics are identical in terms of active
ingredients. The generic pills may look different
(because they are made by a different company) but
inside is exactly the same active ingredient, which
works in exactly the same way. The only difference
between brand name drugs and generic drugs is that
generics are always less expensive.
13. What
guidelines do your company and its partner Canadian
pharmacies follow in filling prescriptions?
Once your prescription from your U.S. doctor and your
completed questionnaire have been received by our
office, we will forward it to a Canadian licensed doctor
so that he/she may review your medical history and
approve your prescription under his/her Canadian
license. If our doctor has any questions concerning your
medical history or prescription, you or your prescribing
physician will be contacted directly.
Your prescription will be filled as written. The name
and strength as written on the prescription will be
dispensed. However, our affiliated licensed Canadian
pharmacy will substitute U.S. approved generic drugs for
brand name drugs when available unless your U.S.
physician indicates on the prescription that no
substitutions are allowed, or unless you indicate to us
that you do not want substitutions made. Please Note:
Our affiliated licensed Canadian pharmacies will NOT
fill prescriptions for narcotics or other controlled
substances such as benzodiazepines.
14. Why are
prescription drugs so much cheaper in Canada than in the
US?
There are four main reasons for this. Firstly, in
Canada, the government regulates the prices that
pharmaceutical companies can charge for their drugs.
Secondly, due to more lenient patent laws, Canada offers
more generic drugs (i.e. equivalent substitutes) than
the US. Third, the US dollar is much stronger than the
Canadian dollar, which gives Americans additional buying
power. And fourth, taxes are not charged for orders
being sent out of Canada.
15. What if
I can't find my prescriptions online?
If you can't find your prescription online, you can call
or email us and we'll see if it or an equivalent
substitute is available.
16. Do you
charge a fee to have your licensed Canadian physician
review and cosign my prescription?
No, we do not. The only thing we charge you is the cost
of the medications, and shipping and handling for each
package shipped to you.
17. What
currency are your prices quoted in?
All prices are quoted in United States dollars.
18.
Do your pharmacies charge a dispensing fee on top of the
price of the drug?
No. The drug prices listed on our website already
include the pharmacy's dispensing fee.
19. What do
you charge for shipping on prescription orders?
Our standard shipping and handling fee is $12.95 per package
per order, not per drug. This means you can have
multiple drugs in a single order, but only pay a single
shipping fee. Also, husband and wife orders sent in
together and shipped to the same address are charged
only a single shipping fee.
20. Once I
place my order, can I cancel it?
You can cancel your order so long as it hasn't yet been
sent to our licensed pharmacy to be filled. Once filled,
cancellations or refunds will not be possible. A
cancellation fee of $20.00 may apply.
21. How do you
ship my medications to me?
All orders are shipped using Canada Post's Xpresspost -
USA Shipping Service, a combination of Canada Post's
Express Mail service and USPS's Priority Mail service.
Also, orders can be tracked using a tracking number
provided by Canada Post. Contact us for more details.
22. What
happens if my package gets lost or damaged in delivery?
All packages are covered against loss or damage so you
don't ever have to worry about not getting your
medications. If your package is lost or damaged, we will
resend them to you.
23. What
payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We also
accept international money orders and cashier's checks.
Please make all money orders and cashier's checks
payable to Canada Health Solutions Inc.(this
is our prescription fulfillment company). Personal
checks are not accepted.
24. When you
charge my credit card, do you bill in US dollars or
Canadian dollars?
If you're using Visa or MasterCard, we bill your credit
card in US dollars.
If you're using American Express, we bill your credit
card in Canadian dollars. Due to fluctuations in the
exchange rate, the billing amount may vary slightly from
the prevailing price at the time of purchase.
25. Do you
charge any sales tax?
No, we don't charge you any sales tax.
26. What is
your return policy?
Unfortunately, once a medication has left the pharmacy,
it cannot be returned for any reason. This policy is in
accordance with the B.C. College of Pharmacists - Bylaw
5 (33. subsection 1). This is also in accordance with
the Alberta College of Pharmacists Standard 5.1 (m)
Standards of Practice - The Pharmacist, Jan. 1, 1996
27. Will you
accept my US insurance coverage for payment?
At this time, we do not. However, we will provide you
with an official receipt, which you may be able to bring
to your insurance company to get reimbursed, depending
on your insurance policy.
28.
Why do the pills I receive from you look different from
the ones I get from my local pharmacy?
Brand name pills normally look different from generic
versions, despite the fact that they include the same
active ingredient and work in the exact same way. If you
order a generic version of your pill medication from us,
do not expect it to look exactly like the brand name
version that you're used to. Not only that, but in
Canada, there are some brand name pills that look a bit
different than they do in the US, even though they
contain the same active ingredient and are manufactured
by the exact same company. In the case of two different
generics of the same drug, they will look different if
they are manufactured by two different companies.
29. What are
the names of the companies that manufacture generic
drugs in Canada?
The manufacturing of generic drugs in Canada is subject
to the same strict approval and regulation as brand name
drugs, and are used by millions of Canadians on a daily
basis. The manufacturers of these generics include
large, well-established and respected companies. Major
manufacturers include Apotex, GenPharm, NovoPharm,
PharmaScience, Taro, RatioPharm and Sabex.
30. What's the
difference between an initial prescription order and a
refill prescription order?
When placing refill orders, no other information needs
to be provided, unless there has been a change in your
shipping address, contact information, health, in the
strengths or quantities of the medications you're
taking, or in your preferred method of payment (in which
case, this information needs to be provided). To place
your refill order, simply call us at
1-877-278-5387 or email us at . Be sure to provide us
with your full name, telephone number and the details of
the drugs you want us to refill (i.e. name, strength and
quantity).
Once your prescription has expired (1 year from the date
it was originally written), it will be necessary to
provide us with a copy of a new prescription issued by
your U.S. doctor in order for us to continue filling
your prescription.
31. How come I
can't download your order forms, documents or other
promotional offers on your website?
If you are unable to download materials off of our
website, it may be because your computed does not have
the proper software. The order forms on our website are
in both Adobe PDF format and in MS Word format. In order
to download and properly open these documents, you'll
need to have these programs. This may also be the reason
why you are having trouble downloading other documents
or promotional offers from our website.
To obtain a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader so that
you may open Adobe PDF files,
are unable to get these programs, please feel free to
contact customer service at 1-877-278-5387.
A customer service representative would be
happy to fax or mail you all the materials you need.
32. What
happens if my package gets lost?
Due to rare occurrences with both Canada and US postal
service, packages can unfortunately get lost. This may
be due to an incorrect address or postal issues beyond
our control. If your order becomes lost in the mail, we
will send you a replacement at no charge. However, you
will be held liable for the lost package if it is
determined that you have provided us with an incorrect
mailing address or if you failed to provide us with a
winter/summer address.
33. Why do
some US prescriptions require rewriting by my US
physician in order to be filled by a mail order Canadian
pharmacy?
Some of your prescriptions may require re-writing in
order for us to fill them in Canada. This is due to the
fact that some U.S. prescription drugs are not available
in Canada and we can only supply a similar or equivalent
Canadian product.
